What is your current title for work?

Project Co-Ordinator at Egmont Dixon

When did you start in the construction industry:

About 2021

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

Honestly, it wasn't a conscious decision for me. I sort of stumbled into the construction industry by accident, as I started as an administrator at Egmont Dixon, but as I got more involved in the projects team, I found myself loving every aspect of it. Since then, I've discovered a real passion for this field, and I look forward to continue growing and contributing to it.

What are you most passionate about?

My passion lies in being a part of a positive change that helps reshape perceptions and creates a more diverse and equitable construction environment for future generations. I'm passionate about paving the way for more women to pursue careers in this industry and demonstrating that gender doesn't determine capability.

Why did you join NAWIC?

NAWIC offers a platform for advocating equal opportunities, fair treatment, and recognition of women's contributions within the construction industry. Being involved in this movement provides a sense of camaraderie, empowerment, and solidarity with other women in this field, creating a supportive network that I am very excited to be a part of.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I hope for a construction industry where women are celebrated for their contributions, respected for their expertise, and provided with the same opportunities for growth and leadership.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

For women considering or starting a career in construction, my advice is to embrace your unique perspective and skills. Be confident, proactive in seeking learning opportunities, and don't hesitate to assert yourself in male-dominated environments. Find mentors, build networks, and never underestimate your capabilities.

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Spending a good day at the beach, quality time with my family and friends, and learning new songs on my piano are my top three.
