When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:
When I fell into it! I had been working in manufacturing and was keen to explore more project management based roles. Through a friend I got an offer of a design management cadetship that I couldn’t refuse and the rest is history.
What are you most passionate about?
Good design, problem solving and encouraging more women in enter the industry.
Why did you join NAWIC?
I was initially lured in by the site visits and stayed because of the fantastic people.
What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?
A much higher percentage of women in both trade based roles and in upper management.
Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:
Be open to opportunities and be aware that there are a huge range of different roles that make up the industry beyond just the obvious ones.
What is your favourite thing to do for fun:
I love lifting heavy weights at the gym and I’m currently learning to fly a plane and to snowboard. I also enjoy getting out on my stand up paddleboard. I love trying new things and putting myself out there.
