What is your current title for work?

Product Manager - Passive Fire Protection & Installation at Hilti New Zealand

When did you start working in construction:

I started in 2022 as a Structural Field Engineer at Hilti. It was a very hands-on, customer-facing position with both interesting technical and business challenges.

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

I would say I chose the type of role I wanted first, then the company, and then the industry. I was looking for something diverse in challenges and day-to-day experiences, with opportunities to combine technical problem-solving with business strategy and development. Since joining, the industry has grown on me—I find it constantly evolving, and it’s such a large sector that has a real impact on our everyday lives.

What are you most passionate about?

I love seeing people feel proud and excited about what they do. I want everyone to succeed, and I value kindness—because in the end, we’re all working towards leaving the world a little better than we found it.

Why did you join NAWIC?

A friend introduced me to the association and encouraged me to attend an event. It was hosted at PlaceMakers (with lots of games and yummy food). I remember getting to push my comfort

zone and speak to so many amazing people, I felt really inspired when I left. The hosts were super passionate and everyone was so welcoming that I knew I wanted to be part of it. I joined shortly after that.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

A space where everyone can thrive and grow, with opportunities accessible to all.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Don’t be afraid of failure—be more afraid of not trying. Be bold. On one hand, nobody is judging you as much as you think, and on the other, you never know who you might inspire..

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

I love crafty hobbies like painting, beading, and sewing.
