What is your current title for work?

Contracts Engineer at Fulton Hogan

How many years have you been in the construction industry:

4 years.

What are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about my career and exploring the future options that would be available to me in the construction industry. I am constantly increasing my skills via internal and external training to develop myself.

Being a young engineer committee member for ENZ Dunedin, I am also passionate about encouraging more young females to consider joining the contracting world.

Why did you join NAWIC?

I attended the Otago Chapter Introductory Event with a friend and decided at the time to join NAWIC. An opportunity arose to put my name forward for the committee so I joined in order to promote NAWIC in the Otago region. My role on the committee is Comms & Social Media Representative and through this I hope to provide a connection with Fulton Hogan and other construction contractors. Our goals, through this connection, are to encourage more females to join NAWIC Otago and to bridge the gap between our office based and ground based staff with emphasis on female contractors.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I would like to see construction become a popular career path for young women to consider and engage in. Through NAWIC, we can advocate construction as a great career path with varied opportunities for women.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

  • Put yourself forward and take the opportunities!
  • Believe in yourself!

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Sports, travel, pole dancing
