What is your current title for work?

Senior Design Manager

Your current organisation for work:

Preformance Building Technologies

How many years have you been in the construction industry:

18 years. I worked 15 years in architectural studios in the UK, Australia and NZ and 3 years in a construction company.

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

I followed in the footsteps of my grandfather and my mother, both retired architects, and my father who was an electrical engineer. Design and construction have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Didn’t really have much of a choice there...(haha)

What are you most passionate about?

I enjoy collaborating with people and being part of multidisciplinary teams. Developing good connections with clients, consultants, and colleagues, overseeing the design processes, especially of buildings that benefit communities and make positive difference, resonate deeply with me.

Why did you join NAWIC?

Queenstown has a busy construction scene, where numerous women actively participate. I joined NAWIC as it offers great opportunities for exchanging experiences, networking, learning

and linking with fellow wāhine.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

The design and construction sector needs to create more opportunities for women across all roles and levels. Women bring exceptional skills that enhance the industry and contribute to its

success. I would like to see a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable industry for everyone.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Have faith in yourself and stay focused on your end goals.

Build connections, forge relationships, find a mentor, grow and enjoy the journey!

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Travelling, skiing and scuba diving.
