When did you start in the construction industry:
1994
When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:
I’ve always had a connection to construction, from watching my parents in the industry at a young age. It wasn’t so much a decision as it was a natural progression. The fascination grew over the years, and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of, shaping spaces and contributing to the future.
What are you most passionate about?
Watching something go from dust to a fully built structure, each project with its own challenges and story. It’s a true testament to the mahi, vision, and resilience behind every build.
Why did you join NAWIC?
I joined NAWIC because I’m passionate about creating spaces for wāhine in construction to connect, grow, and support one another. It’s an incredible platform for advocacy, mentoring, and empowering women to take on leadership roles, push boundaries, and shape the future of the industry. Being part of NAWIC aligns with my values of lifting others.
What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?
More wāhine in leadership, stronger support networks, equal opportunities, and workplaces that embrace diversity and inclusion. A future where wāhine thrive, lead, and shape the industry.
Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:
It’s a challenging industry at times, but perseverance and adaptability will carry you through. Believe in yourself, you got this!
What is your favourite thing to do for fun:
I love music and entertainment, and I enjoy organising events for family and friends. It’s a fun way to bring people together and take a break from mahi.
