What is your current title for work?

Project Manager, Campus Development at the University of Otago

How many years have you been in the construction industry:

5

What are you most passionate about?

As a Project Manager at Campus Development, we get to create environments for staff and students doing some incredible research that has far reaching impacts across the world. It is amazing to be a part of that and I feel very passionately about being a key part of the process that brings their vision to life.

Why did you join NAWIC?

To meet and connect with new people. There aren’t many women in the construction industry in Dunedin and this is the perfect opportunity to branch out and meet new people, while promoting the industry to women at the same time.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I want to see the construction industry put forward as more of a realistic career path for young woman finishing school and coming through. Women in construction is definitely more common now but I think we have a fair way to go.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and put your hand up for different opportunities. It’s the best way to learn.

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

I love to spend time with my family and friends, enjoying that Dunedin sun and visiting all the beautiful parts of our country.
