How many years have you been in the construction industry?

8

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do?

As a kid I would often go to work with my Dad who was an electrician, I got to go into some incredible building sites & homes. This gave me a snapshot of the construction process  which inspired me to take design papers at school. I initially studied to be an Architect however, I quickly learned that I was more interested in the building process and loved being the link between the Architect and the Builder. I graduated with a Bachelor of Building Science majoring in Project Management. I have worked as a client side Project Manager but more recently moved into Site Management.

What are you most passionate about?

Golf.... oh wait you mean work right?

One of my favorite things about the construction industry is that you meet people of all different ages, backgrounds and ethnicities. This creates an amazing working environment that harnesses different talent pools. Being able to bring these people together for an end shared goal of creating a new space/building is incredibly rewarding and I love being able to contribute to this.

Why did you join NAWIC?

I love meeting new people and sharing experiences. NAWIC provides such a good platform for this especially in an male dominated industry. I want to be able to contribute to keep this platform going so we can continue to grow and inspire women in the industry.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I want to see more and more women progressing in their careers and taking on more leadership roles.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Back yourself.

What is your favourite thing to do for fun?

I am golf obsessed... anyone want to play a round with me?
