FIONA CLARK

SECRETARY

What is your current title for work?

Stakeholder & Communications Coordinator

When did you start working in construction?

2023

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

When I picked up a contracting opportunity to deliver a programme to repair schools across Hawke's Bay and Tairawhiti that were damaged by Cyclone Gabrielle, and I haven't looked back!

What are you most passionate about?

Building strong relationships through collaboration.

Why did you join NAWIC?

Because my role has a focus on delivering broader outcomes on our current contract, this includes employing apprentices, and I really wanted any female apprentices we employ to have a local WIC branch they would really enjoy participating in.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

Excellent local training and development opportunities.

If we nurture supportive environments, recognise achievement, and keep pushing for real change, I believe the industry can become a place where every woman has the chance to truly thrive.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of, or considering a career in  construction:

Don't let being the only woman on site phase you, you'll find great teams and opportunity to add much value!

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Walk my two black labradors along local rivers and stopbanks.
