What is your current title for work?

Business Development Manager Building and Trade – North at Noel Leeming Commercial

When did you start in the construction industry:

2020

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

Starting my career alongside the building industry started as an events and sales manager for the trade show BuildNZ. My dad has been in the trades (brick and block layer) for as long as I can remember, and growing up, I watched him build not only structures, but a strong work ethic and a deep sense of pride in what he did. His dedication and skill continue to amaze me every day.

Being around the trade my whole life gave me deep respect for the construction industry – the skill it demands, the teamwork required and the lasting impact it has on communities.

What are you most passionate about?

I have always had a passion for connecting with people, whether its through shared experiences, meaningful conversations or working toward a common goal.

Why did you join NAWIC?

It’s important to me to create environments where people feel heard, valued and respected. Being part of NAWIC has given me the opportunity to learn from others, build strong networks and contribute to the growth and visibility of women in trades.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

To see a more inclusive, supportive and balanced industry where woman are not only welcomed but fully recognized for their skills, leadership and contributions.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

One of the most exciting things about the construction industry is the wide range of roles available which you may not be aware of. Explore all the avenues and be curious about what opportunities there may be!

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Getting outside, whether it’s walking the dog, getting out fishing, exploring with my 2 year old.
