18 years


When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

I’m still debating that. I grew up on building sites, so it was a natural progression, and 18 years later I still enjoy it.


What are you most passionate about?

Innovation within the industry, and particularly interested in carbon reduction and healthy built environments.


Why did you join NAWIC?

I believe woman offer the industry a lot, and I would like to see this realised.


What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

Equal opportunity and an equal voice at the table.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction: Go for it, the industry needs your perspective.


What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Travel. Travel must consist of 4 things: Wildlife, Scenic Sites, Adventure, and Culture.


Arama is an Architectural Specification Manager at Winstone Wallboards and has recently joined the NAWIC Auckland Committee as the first male committee member. Arama enjoys developing relationships with specifiers from Taupo to Kaitaia, offering technical support and training on new product, systems, and construction methodologies, and has a particular passion for sustainability and the environment.
