When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

My decision to pursue a career in construction stems from a deep commitment to diversity and a passion for positive change. I strongly believe that a career in construction underscores the significance of providing equal opportunities for all genders. By challenging traditional norms, women in construction can showcase their skills, knowledge, and abilities, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.


What are you most passionate about?

My core passion lies in vision, change and family (whanau). I am driven by a passion for leading transformative change and draw inspiration from my family to continually strive for the best version of myself.


Why did you join NAWIC?

I am an active member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). My decision to join NAWIC is fueled by a desire to make a tangible difference and lead transformative change for women in the industry. I recognize the immense value that a diverse workforce brings to construction, fostering innovation and creativity that ultimately benefits the industry. 


What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

In envisioning the future for women in construction, I aspire to see a landscape where women find personal fulfillment in their careers. I firmly believe that a career in construction provides a platform for women to pursue their passions, explore their interests, and derive satisfaction from their work.  


Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

A guiding principle that I hold dear is encapsulated in the Māori proverb (Whakatauki) ‘Whāia e koe ki te iti Kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe, me he maunga teitei’   Seek the treasure that you value most dearly, if you bow your head, let it be to a lofty mountain. 


What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

Outside of my professional endeavors, I find joy in discovering new and delicious eateries. Sharing these experiences with family and friends adds a delightful dimension to my life.
