How many years have you been in the construction industry?

27 years

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do?

I always liked studying science at school specially Physics and when the time came to choose a profession I decided to do civil engineering. Also, my father was a developer and I wanted to be able to work with him designing and being part of the construction team of some of his buildings.

What are you most passionate about?

I am very passionate about my family, education, ‘work smarter’ and innovation.

Why did you join NAWIC?

When NAWIC first started in Christchurch, I saw an advert and I thought it was a great group to be part of as I think it is super important to have a networking group that share similar interests and vision.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

Getting more people passionate about quality in construction and knowledgeable enough to accept that when it comes to good work ALL should have the same opportunity to show their potential.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

You can do anything you put your mind and heart into: feed your appetite for learning regularly, believe in yourself and don’t miss opportunities to show your potential.

What is your favourite thing to do for fun?

That’s a hard question as I like to have fun in everything I do!

But if I have to choose one favorite thing to do for fun it would be being a sports coach/instructor especially in swimming.

I also have fun travelling with my family and learning about other cultures.
